I haven't had much time but from what I could recall, my preference 'd go to Federalist N°10 rather than 62 and when you can't stand a fillibuster rule, you can't stand the President veto either which happened to be constitunional? The idea was to create as many tools as possible to reduce the ability to impose, allow time for more talks to encourage everyone to find common ground?
I like N°10 as it doesn't limit the peril to a majority or a minority, "By a faction, I understand a number of citizens, whether amounting to a majority or a minority of the whole, who are united and actuated by some common impulse of passion, or of interest, adversed to the rights of other citizens, or to the permanent and aggregate interests of the community."

The valuable improvements made by the American constitutions on the popular models, both ancient and modern, cannot certainly be too much admired; but it would be an unwarrantable partiality, to contend that they have as effectually obviated the danger on this side, as was wished and expected. Complaints are everywhere heard from our most considerate and virtuous citizens, equally the friends of public and private faith, and of public and personal liberty, that our governments are too unstable, that the public good is disregarded in the conflicts of rival parties, and that measures are too often decided, not according to the rules of justice and the rights of the minor party, but by the superior force of an interested and overbearing majority. However anxiously we may wish that these complaints had no foundation, the evidence, of known facts will not permit us to deny that they are in some degree true. It will be found, indeed, on a candid review of our situation, that some of the distresses under which we labor have been erroneously charged on the operation of our governments; but it will be found, at the same time, that other causes will not alone account for many of our heaviest misfortunes; and, particularly, for that prevailing and increasing distrust of public engagements, and alarm for private rights, which are echoed from one end of the continent to the other. These must be chiefly, if not wholly, effects of the unsteadiness and injustice with which a factious spirit has tainted our public administrations.
Difficult to say any better.
I wondered why Michelle had decided to go to Vancouver in the first place but I was even more surprised when I found out she was staying there for now over a week until I dicovered that Mark was there too?
I have to admit I didn't suspect anything before I learned Mark was there too. Have I ever suspected Mark? No. I thought of the Canadian potential menace but never expected Mark to end brutally a several years relations with Bonnie as he met Michelle. Did he know her?

Listening to these citizen's comments can only fulfill one's trust
in the Founding Fathers choice to build an institutional system imperfect enough to leave the People at its heart, knowing it will keep them awake, alive and altogether trustworthy what they have showed at many occasions, stepping up at each occasions the tough times required it, they will again.

Was glad to learn you liked some. They're more than good, they're the heart, the mind and the soul of the country, since the Decalaration of Independance and the Bill of Rights many unexpected challenges came across, all were won succesfully, evil ideologies had all in common to challenge the Founding Fathers ideals and the People's will, they were all defeated. I concluded that there will be nether any better "prophets" that got together at the same time to write the People's Rights. It is the final draft.
My preferred collection is The Writings, they're a little more expensive than some paperback but... www.loa.org
Sorry you had to forget about the plan to buy the company.

I said I'd check so I did. It's the early years. Thomas wrote.
In 1769, I became a member of the legislature by the choice of the country in which I live, & continued in that until it was closed by the revolution. I made one effort in that body for the permission of the emancipation of slaves, which was rejected: and indeed, during the regal government, nothing liberal could expect success.

With all due respect to anyone, I'd say that he must have been just as popular at the time with this effort than someone today standing up at a White House dinner with a proposed toast to restore slavery in front of President Obama...
Explaining what follows,
Our minds were circumscribed within narrow limits by an habituel belief that it was our duty to be subordinate to the mother country in all matters of governments, to direct all our labors in subserviance to her interests,.....
I supposed it's very difficult to imagine that the fight was a long one, winning minds at the idea when at the same time the idea of Independance and later build a country was also a challenge.
Has nothing to do with the above, but I thought of you when you mentioned Switzerland and shouldn't America be like that but it wasn't a US initiative to end the Monroe's doctrine, was it, if it was, what were you refering to?
I was quite happy to learn about the constitutional coalition, it will, I guess be criticised and looked at as a politician enterprise but if given sometime it's decent to hope the liberal school thinkers heirs will make a comeback and join the crowd even if to be critics what may be strange to start with but?
