Kristie, you shouldn't apologise.... a lot of "francophones" have been forced to speak that language, for a many, many more than you can probably think of are not "native francophones".... more than 50% of the actual territories under the paris regime administration didn't speak french and fought for their language, some today are still struggling for it. 19th century the regime was very violent towards these communities and today still refuse to allow them to vote for the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages and the state denies them any rights on their land.
What the Canadians are doing for the Inuit, the paris regime refuses to do it for the Corsicans, the Basques, Breizh and others.
