You know what, "the full extent of the abuse of prisoners".... I guess ACLU could just tell the truth sometime rather than try to enter the political game.... sadly, it was discovered "too late" than anyone not in uniform on 09/11 was a potential "abuser" once in uniform and facing "combattant elements", none of the behaviors seen at Abu Graib and some other isolated cases (a lot of these men and women serving their country have been judged and are now in jail for a long time) would have taken place with GIs or Marines in charge at the prison but civilians caught on 09/11 by the desire to hit back without knowing how to react were exposed to the risk of to exercise that desire, among them reservists. Not all reservists are of course "abusers" but more than anybody else, being powerless that day has probably been a very difficult challenge, a lot of them ended dealing with on their own. Obviously, the outcome hasn't been healthy for everyone. Using this in the political arena is shameful.
